Does my GPA guarantee admission to a top university

Okay, so I know everyone says that college admissions are “holistic” and more than just grades, but I’m really hoping my GPA means something. I have a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.8 weighted GPA. I’m taking a really rigorous course load: AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C (both Mechanics and E&M), AP Chemistry, AP English Literature, AP US History, and AP Spanish Literature. I’m also taking Honors Latin.

I’m aiming for schools like Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Caltech… you know, the really top ones.

I’m just so stressed! I’m working so hard in school. It feels like my entire future hinges on getting into one of these schools. Does having such a high GPA guarantee that I’ll get in somewhere? Or am I still going to be disappointed? I’m involved in a few extracurriculars, but honestly, school takes up so much time that I haven’t been able to devote a ton of energy to them. I’m in the debate club, I’m the treasurer of the school’s environmental club, and I volunteer at the local library, but I don’t have any groundbreaking, national-award-winning type achievements.

So, seriously, be honest. Am I safe with these grades, or am I setting myself up for heartbreak?
