Okay, so I’ve been teaching middle school English for about eight years now, and honestly, I’m feeling a bit burnt out. The workload, the politics, the constant testing…it’s all taking a toll. I still love working with kids and I’m passionate about learning, but I just don’t see myself doing this for another 20+ years.
I’m starting to explore other career options, but I’m kind of stuck. I feel like all my skills are so specific to teaching. What can I do outside of education? I’m open to pretty much anything at this point, as long as it’s not soul-crushingly boring.
I have a Bachelor’s in English Literature and a Master’s in Education. I’m good at public speaking, writing, curriculum development (obviously!), and managing groups of people. I’m also pretty tech-savvy. What fields could I leverage these skills in? I’d prefer something where I can still use my brain and maybe even have a positive impact on people, even if it’s not directly teaching kids. Any ideas?
