Write for Us: Share Your Student Voice & Get Published
Become a contributor and share your student experiences with our growing community.
Are you a student with a unique perspective, a compelling story, or invaluable advice to share? Since launching The Student Blogger, our community has grown exponentially, and we are now excited to open our platform to talented student writers like you. We believe that the most authentic and helpful advice for students comes from students themselves. This is your opportunity to contribute to a thriving community, build your portfolio, and share your knowledge with a wide and engaged audience.
Writing for us is more than just getting your words published; it’s a strategic step in your personal and professional development. We are looking for passionate individuals who can write about the realities of student life, from academic challenges and financial tips to mental wellness and social experiences. If you have something to say, we want to provide the stage for you to say it.
Why Write for The Student Blogger?
Contributing to our platform offers a multitude of benefits that extend far beyond a simple byline. We are committed to creating a mutually beneficial relationship with our guest writers. Here’s what you stand to gain when you join our team of contributors:
Build Your Professional Portfolio & Personal Brand
In today’s competitive job market, a strong digital footprint is essential. Having your work published on an established platform is a powerful addition to your CV or resume. It demonstrates your expertise, your communication skills, and your initiative. Each article you write serves as a tangible example of your ability to craft compelling, well-researched content for a specific audience. This can be a game-changer when applying for internships, graduate schemes, or your first full-time job.
Gain Valuable SEO & Digital Marketing Experience
We believe in giving credit where it’s due. As a contributor, you will receive a dedicated author bio at the end of your article. In this bio, we allow you to include one do-follow backlink to your personal website, blog, or professional portfolio (provided it’s relevant and non-spammy). This is an excellent opportunity to improve your own site’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO), drive traffic to your personal brand, and understand the fundamentals of digital marketing firsthand.
Reach a Broad and Engaged Audience
Your voice deserves to be heard. The Student Blogger attracts thousands of readers every month, from prospective students and current undergraduates to postgraduates and recent graduates. When you write for us, your insights and advice will reach a dedicated audience actively seeking information and guidance. We also promote our articles across our social media channels, further amplifying your work and expanding your reach.
Pave Your Way to a Paid Contributor Role
We are always on the lookout for exceptional talent. While initial contributions are typically on a voluntary basis, we regularly identify promising writers for our core team. Consistent, high-quality contributions can open the door to becoming a regular, paid contributor. This is your chance to showcase your skills, reliability, and passion, and potentially turn your writing hobby into a paid opportunity.
What Topics Are We Looking For?
Our goal is to be the ultimate resource for every aspect of student life. We are interested in a wide array of topics, but all articles must be original, insightful, and genuinely helpful to our student audience. If you have expertise or a unique take on any of the following areas, we would love to hear from you:
- Academic Success & Study Tips: Exam preparation strategies, effective note-taking, dissertation advice, beating procrastination, choosing the right course, and using university resources.
- Student Finance & Budgeting: Managing student loans, finding part-time jobs, smart saving tips, student bank accounts, applying for scholarships, and making money as a student.
- Career & Employability: CV and cover letter writing, interview skills, finding internships and work experience, networking, graduate schemes, and building a professional online presence.
- Health & Wellness: Managing stress and anxiety, mental health resources for students, staying physically active, healthy and affordable recipes, and navigating university life with a disability or chronic illness.
- Campus & Social Life: Making friends in halls, navigating freshers’ week, joining societies, dealing with homesickness, student housing tips, and balancing social life with studies.
- Technology & Apps: Must-have apps for students, productivity tools, tech for studying, and reviews of useful software or gadgets.
- Personal Stories & Experiences: A unique story from your time at university, an opinion piece on a current issue affecting students, or a reflection on a lesson you’ve learned.
Our Writing & Submission Guidelines
To maintain the quality and consistency of our content, we ask that all contributors adhere to the following guidelines. This ensures your article has the best possible chance of being accepted and resonating with our readers.
Content Quality
- Originality: Your submission must be 100% original and not published anywhere else online, including your own blog. We use plagiarism checkers to verify all submissions.
- Value: Articles should be well-researched, comprehensive, and provide actionable advice or fresh perspectives. Ask yourself: “Will a student find this genuinely helpful?”
- Word Count: We find that in-depth, detailed articles perform best. Please aim for a minimum of 900 words. Longer, well-structured articles are encouraged.
Tone and Style
- Authentic Voice: We want to hear from you! Write in your own personal style. Your article should feel like a real, relatable student sharing their experiences, not a generic or robotic text.
- Engaging Introduction: Your first few paragraphs are crucial. Hook the reader with a compelling question, a surprising statistic, or a relatable anecdote. Make them want to read more.
- Clear and Concise: Use simple, accessible language. Avoid jargon where possible, or explain it clearly if it’s necessary. Your goal is to communicate effectively, not to sound overly academic.
Formatting for Readability
- Structure: Break up your text into manageable sections with clear and descriptive headings (H2, H3). This improves readability and is great for SEO.
- Short Paragraphs: Use short paragraphs (2-4 sentences) to make the content easy to scan on both desktop and mobile devices.
- Lists: Use bullet points or numbered lists to present information in an easily digestible format.
- Images: If you can provide high-quality, royalty-free images to accompany your article, please do. This is not a requirement, but it is highly encouraged.
The Submission Process: A Step-by-Step Guide
We’ve made our submission process straightforward and transparent. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Read Our Blog: Familiarize yourself with our content. Get a feel for our style, the topics we cover, and what our audience loves. This is the best way to understand what we’re looking for.
- Pitch Your Idea: Before you start writing, send us a pitch. This saves you time and ensures your topic is a good fit for our blog. Your email should include:
- A brief introduction about yourself.
- Your proposed article title (a working title is fine).
- A few bullet points outlining the key takeaways of your article.
- Any relevant experience you have with the topic.
- Write Your Article: Once your pitch is approved, you can start writing! Keep our guidelines in mind as you craft your piece. Please submit your draft as a Google Doc or Word document.
- Editorial Review: Our editorial team will review your submission. We may make minor edits for clarity, grammar, and formatting. If significant changes are needed, we will collaborate with you to get it ready for publication.
- Publication: Once finalized, we will schedule your article for publication. We will notify you when it goes live so you can share it with your network!
